get to know giselle

Giselle’s introduction to yoga in the early 90’s was a natural progression from her gymnastics/dance background, her passion for music, and her colorful childhood; she was raised by a bohemian flamenco dancer. All of which have influenced her style and approach to teaching and life.

ROCKING IT OUT IN CLASS

An E-RYT500, YACEP & C-IAYT, Giselle flavors her classes with spunk, grit, and spirit. Her light-hearted but comprehensive teaching style weaves yogic philosophy, Sanskrit, anatomy, skillful hands-on assists, funky eclectic music, and an unabashed authenticity. Her offerings are not only designed to make you move, sweat, and reflect, but to empower fearless curiosity, increase self-acceptance, reconnect you to your humanity, and inspire spiritual activation—all while keeping your sense of humor.

ESTEEMED TEACHERS

Giselle has had the honor to train under the direct tutelage of Sharon Gannon & David Life of the Jivamukti Yoga method, as well as assist them for many years. As a senior teacher with advanced certification, she went on to serve as a faculty member for their esteemed international teacher training and was a board member for their advanced certification board exam. Giselle is also grateful for the teachings of Sarah Powers, Paul Grilley, Jai Uttal, Jill Miller and her Sanskrit/philosophy teacher Manorama who has illumined her path beyond words.

Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, Giselle has presented her teachings all over the world at various yoga conferences, festivals and studios while also serving as a teacher trainer and mentor. She’s graced the covers of Yoga Journal (U.S, Japan & Spain) and Yoga International Magazine as well as appeared in many of their articles. She’s also featured in Kathryn Budig’s book Women’s Health: The Big Book of Yoga, Linda Sparrowe’s Yoga at Home, and Stephanie Spence’s Yoga Wisdom: Warrior Tales Inspiring You On and Off Your Mat, and in the documentaries What is Real? The Story of Jivamukti Yoga and the Director’s Cut of Cowspiracy. She’s written for Origin, Mantra Magazine, and Yoga Journal, and more. When not teaching, she loves being with her amazing husband and daughter along with their two pit bulls and two frogs.
